Chasing the Dragon Gowns
After a disgruntled young lady IM’ed me annoyed that 1) I’m prettier androgynous than she as as a real girl (that’s not what she said, exactly, this is how I took it) and 2) that it was unfair that I offered the Chasing the Dragon outfits in suits rather than dresses.
I had to admit that I have been neglectful to female patrons, feeling that most of what I make works well for both sexes. But, if you are more skirt inclined, there was nowhere to turn as far as the Chasing the Dragon pattern went.

I wanted to prepare a more couture approach to Steampunk, adding a spring sheerness, dramatic collar and sculpty cravat and cuffs. Theodore calls the look “insouciant.” It’s not for every man, but it has a lot of flair with gorgeous Chinese silk and pintucked detail.

Alexander
Contrary to popular belief, we are still alive and we have actually been putting things out, just very quietly. Sneaky-like in the night. So as not to flood the world, I’m going to try to post these over the next few days. This is the first, it’s something I made inspired by Alexander McQueen, though not a copy of anything in particular.
It’s funny. I didn’t cry when I found out he was gone. I don’t know if it was denial or what. But watching his last show brought me to tears. To lose that kind of vision and talent, that beautiful brain, gone. I still get teary thinking about it. That’s when it really hit me. Anyway, putting this together made me feel a little better. It’s nowhere near his talent, just my humble tribute.

End of Year Look
I predict this to be my last post of the year and I’m feeling a little melancholy about the year that’s past, but optimistic about the year yet to come. It’s been a little crazy and I’m not going to be sorry to see it behind me.
Tonight I’m feeling snuggly in a nice warm cardigan from CheerNo in pink. I love jeans, but there has to be something special about them to get me to part with Lindens. These from Gbbrish with the tiger on make me happy.
I hung out at The Velvet tonight to listen to Lux Yao, Astrud Sands, and Niko Lyle playing their top songs of 2009. My free tousled hair from booN and House of Curios glasses made me feel quite indie indeed as I brooded on a stained old couch.

CheerNo Deuil Mortifera
If the last release from CheerNo suffered from over exuberance, some might find this current collection, Deuil a bit dour. For me, I found it beautiful and elegant and all of the things that I loved about CheerNo when I first discovered them as a SLewb.
I loved the gorgeous big shouldered suits that evoked my endless Bowie love, but it was the Mortifera that I was most drawn to with its high drama black gauze that wraps over the face and slings over the hips. It is theatrical and not something that most guys would probably be comfortable wearing all together. That said, the gauze Marilyn Manson shirt and jeans that it comes with are plenty to make any goth purr.
I paired the top of Mortifera with a pair of my own black satin pants, as I didn’t really like it as much with the jeans, though I do think the jeans would be more appealing to most guys. Fortunately, all of the pieces are such that you can mix and mingle to taste. I pulled it together with my favorite pair of Sn@tch cowboy boots.

I keep thinking that there needs to be a whole sim dedicated to Xanadu. You know, that old 80s trainwreck with Olivia Newton-John? I can’t help it. I love it. It’s so fabulous and horrid all at the same time. I used to sail around on my skates with ribbons in my hair pretending to be a muse. This is a more punk look that I would’ve rocked as a toddler, but the hair was so fab, I had to share.
